Ben Pierce and the Harlem Globetrotters | January 24, 2015

8:00 AM

Meet Ben Pierce, the just a week shy of 10-years-old boy who has a degenerative eye disease called retinopathy of prematurity. In layman's terms, he is slowly losing his vision. But, today Ben gets to experience the wonders of the Harlem Globetrotters and was even invited to an honorary tip-off at the start of the game.
Two Globetrotter players help teach Ben how to spin a ball on his finger during their meet and greet before the tip-off.
Ben's whole family was excited to meet the two players!
The players were really animated and upbeat and really made the experience fun for the children.
Ben even got to keep one of the player's sweatbands as a keepsake of the day.
Ben watches in awe as a Globetrotter player spins a ball on his finger.
When the meet and greet was over, it was time for Ben to travel under the tunnel to make his way to center court.
But first, a little dancing from the Globetrotter MC and mascot, Globie.

Ben tosses the ball in the air for his honorary tip-off at the start of the game.

After his honorary tip-off, Globetrotters head coach hands Ben the ball to keep.
And then the show began.
